Virtual Care
Virtual care from the comfort of your home
Virtual care, also known as telehealth, gives you access to high-quality, convenient care from Baylor Scott & White providers you trust, 24 hours a day. From your smartphone, tablet or computer, MyBSWHealth allows you to schedule online doctor appointments, get virtual care via video or eVisit, send private messages to your providers and get quick answers to pressing health questions—all on your schedule.
Benefits of telehealth
Virtual care, also called telehealth or telemedicine, gives you access to a healthcare provider without having to travel to their office. You can do virtual visits at home, work, a loved one’s house or any other stationary location with Wi-Fi or a cell signal.
Virtual care is not only convenient, but it also:
- Allows you to see a provider without having to take time off work
- Helps you avoid childcare and elder care issues
- May cost less than an office visit, depending on the type of virtual care you use
- Prevents the spread of illness while sitting in a waiting room
- Saves you travel time and expense
Leadership and innovation in transplant care
The 40th anniversary of transplant at Baylor University Medical Center, part of Baylor Scott & White Health, is an opportunity to celebrate over 11,000 life-changing transplants delivered by a team who is continually innovating to deliver the best care to patients and donors.
Innovative approaches increase access to liver transplant for patients with low MELD scores
Historically, in any transplant program worldwide, patients had to be extremely sick and have a high Model for End-stage Liver Disease (MELD) score to receive a liver transplant. However, often the MELD score does not represent how sick the patient truly is.
Remarkable discovery of regeneration of islet cells from leftover tissue
Baylor University Medical Center, part of Baylor Scott & White Health, operates the only transplant program in Texas offering total pancreatectomy followed by islet auto-transplantation (TPIAT) for acute relapsing and chronic pancreatitis. A TPIAT is performed to alleviate the pain of chronic pancreatitis and retain the endocrine function.
Virtual doctor visit
Virtual doctor visits function just like in-person office visits, except they happen via video using a camera on your smartphone, tablet or computer. A virtual doctor visit is a great option when you want a face-to-face conversation with your regular provider, a new provider or the Baylor Scott & White provider on call.
Please note that you will be asked to sign into your MyBSWHealth account or register for a new account to start your video visit.
24/7 Virtual urgent care
Virtual urgent care offers expert care for minor illnesses and injuries for anyone 2 years and older in Texas. Available when you need care immediately, Baylor Scott & White Virtual Urgent Care provides care 24/7 through video visits and eVisits.
eVisits
eVisits give you the option to connect with a provider using a short, five-minute questionnaire. You’ll answer questions about your symptoms, and within an hour, a provider will review the information and provide you with a treatment plan.
Please note that you will be asked to sign into your MyBSWHealth account or register for a new account to start your eVisit.
Messaging your provider
Using MyBSWHealth, you can send private, secure messages to your provider, who will respond within two business days. This option helps you manage your health without needing to schedule an appointment. It’s also an easy way to ask questions that don’t need an immediate response.
